Residential home Regensburg
Protected facade with the power of fire
Fire makes wood more robust? What initially sounds like a contradiction became reality – thanks to a special carbonization technique. The construction of this residential home by the architects of Bayrische Staatsforsten resulted in a visually impressive and sustainable new building project in Regensburg, which already attracts attention from a distance with its black facade. And serves as accommodation for the apprentices of the Bavarian State Forests.
SYSTEA’s visible profile system ALWI-S with stainless steel wall brackets was used as the substructure system for the carbonized wood panels. The 33-unit property with a facade area of almost 800 square meters is a perfect showcase for sustainability in construction.
The facade shimmers black-silver and has high weather-resistant properties. Surface sealing densifies the wood and naturally protects it from rain, mold and insects, etc. All in all, a successful residential home with a unique character.
