Hogia office building

Attractive new building defies the elements

Performance leads to expansion. The successful IT company Hogia, based in Stenungsund, Sweden, expanded its activities many years ago to include the Hogia Transport Systems division. As its success grew, so did the need for a new administration building, which was completed in 2022.

The architecture firm Wingärdh Arkitekterkontor was responsible for the design of the compact building. To cope with the weather conditions, the architects chose NBK Terrart Large ceramic tiles in beige-yellow and gray. The alternation of glazed and unglazed terracotta elements and the surrounding rows of windows lighten up the appearance of the new building. The roof was covered with horizontally laid light gray baguettes.

Due to its close proximity to the Kattegat, the building in western Sweden is constantly exposed to the Nordic wind and weather conditions. It is not only the durability of the 3,300 m² facade that symbolises sustainability, but also the fact that the ceramic panels can be dismantled and reused.

A SYSTEA customised sub-structure provided secure and durable support. The large-format, horizontally laid panels were fastened with NBK clamps and aluminium wall brackets. The window areas, some of which were offset inwards by up to four and a half metres, posed a particular challenge.

C2elements praised the reliable cooperation during the entire construction phase. Even in the event of changes, SYSTEA responded quickly with solutions, said Jakob Thomsen.
