A space for interaction and communication

With a length of 91 metres and a total usable area of 7,200 square metres, the Juridicum of the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, planned and realised by agn gruppe, offers sufficient space for research, education and the library.

The modern foyer’s all-round glazing, the skylights and a bright lounge area on the ground floor make the building complex of the Faculty of Law an inviting place to exchange ideas. An open staircase leads to the upper floor to the office and administration areas such as the dean’s office and various seminar rooms.

Linear structures for a modern appearance
With its clear lines, the new three- to five-storey building is architecturally orientated towards the four existing faculty buildings. It sets an impressive example for the entire redesign of the campus. Equitone fibre cement panels were used for the facade. They emphasise the simple but impressive character of the building.

The SYSTEA profile system UBE Tergo provides a secure hold and concealed fixing of the facade cladding. To support the dead weight of the fibre cement panels, continuous clinches were used on the rear of the cladding material with the support of undercut anchors.

The upright Equitone panels of the Juridicum had projections of 300 to 400 mm. SYSTEA stainless steel brackets and, in some cases, stainless steel wall bracket extensions were used to assemble the cladding. Even the heaviest materials cannot be fixed more beautifully and effortlessly.

With the new Juridicum, a number of different areas have not only been brought together under one roof, but a showpiece for exemplary and atmospherically pleasant teaching and learning environments has also been created.
