The art of precise and fast 3D element attachment

Henstedt-Ulzburg, 17.10.2023: In a time marked by labour shortages and ever-shorter decision-making deadlines during project development, helpful tools such as 3D planning and design are now available. Close coordination and cooperation between the building element manufacturer, architect and cladding installers means that prefabricated elements can be implemented with shorter assembly times.

To assemble them quickly and precisely, specially developed substructure systems, pre-assembly options and technologies as well as a rethinking of planning and assembly are required. The construction elements are heavier and less small-scale, which is in line with today’s architectural requirements.

Large-format building elements as architectural eye-catchers
In SPURWERK, the impressive building project of the Bremen investor and project developer „Peper & Söhne“, the requirements of contemporary architecture are put into practice. On the site of the former Neustadt freight station, a modern, versatile commercial mix of offices, crafts, showrooms and gastronomy is being created on an area of around 90,000 sqm.

Westphal Architekten BDA are responsible for the urban look of the new spacious working environment. The newly developed quarter features multi-storey, greyish iridescent brick-clad buildings supported by anthracite-coloured, storey-high concrete plinths.

Secure support for three-dimensional, large-format concrete piers in element construction
A special construction of the proven SYSTEA profile system UBE NG connects the slabs and fittings made of glass fibre concrete by RIEDER. In order to speed up the assembly time of the upward striving, arrow-like 3D glass fibre concrete elements, two-dimensional elements of the formparts series were chosen. The elements were prefabricated to fit together precisely with system corner brackets and shipped to the construction site after pre-assembly.

In close coordination with Kohlmeyer Fassadenbau, the assembly process could thus not only be shortened many times over, but the high quality of pre-assembly could be perfectly combined with the work on site. When installing large-format elements on site, it is important that they are exactly level and precisely mounted by crane.

The SYSTEA profile system UBE stands out for concealed fixing of large-format facade panels. In the Bremen building project, the cladding elements were concealed and screwed together using Rieder system brackets. In order to meet the thermal insulation requirements, the SYSTEA system was thermally optimised. The fixing of the clinch rails can be done on site as well as in the pre-assembly. For easier processing, the wall brackets have been equipped with an assembly aid that allows the support profile to be fixed and held in place.
