Kick-off for the former Bremen freight station
The Spurwerk is the first completed building on the approximately 90,000 m² site of the former Neustadt freight station in Bremen.
The mixed-use project combines commercial, craft, office, and restaurant space.
Designed by Westphal Architekten BDA, the building is aiming for DGNB Gold certification.
Challenge & planning approach
The facade has a significant impact on the urban appearance: Distinctive, arrow-shaped moulded parts made of anthracite-coloured fibreglass-reinforced concrete meet traditional bricks, creating a modern, distinctive overall look.
The challenge was to find a solution that combines design quality with technical precision and high installation efficiency.
SYSTEA UBE NG in use
The SYSTEA UBE-NG system was used for the sub-structure. In close cooperation with the fabricator Kohlmeyer Fassadenbau Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG and the cladding manufacturer Rieder, it was possible to implement an economical, secure, and thermally optimized fixing system for the large-format 3D-moulded parts.
