The Leinetal School in Pattensen

Facade technology for modern educational buildings

The new construction of the Leinetalschule elementary school in Pattensen, in the Hanover region, has resulted in a contemporary school building that combines functional requirements with a clean architectural design

The building envelope plays a central role in this: it enhances the building’s energy performance while also defining its appearance.

Execution

Various fastening solutions were used for the facade surfaces, each tailored to the specific requirements of the respective facade sections. This allowed both design and technical specifications to be implemented cost-effectively and reliably.

The lower section of the facade cladding was realized using EQUITONE [tectiva]. The natural appearance of the fiber cement gives the school building a high-quality yet understated look. Our proven ALWI-S profile system was used for this application. The facade panels were visibly fastened with color-matched rivets.

In contrast to this are the aluminum shingles used in the upper section, which were mounted concealed with fasteners on trapezoidal steel sheets using the ALWI-V profile system. This created a particularly harmonious façade.

SYSTEA ALWI-S and ALWI-V for different requirements

Thanks to the compatibility of our systems, a seamless transition from concealed fixing to visible fixing like in this project is always possible.

Combining both systems allows for technically optimal adaptation to the specific requirements of the building envelope while ensuring cost-effective installation.

Sustainable sub-structure with stainless steel wall brackets

SYSTEA stainless steel wall brackets were used as base for the sub-structure. They play a key role in ensuring the long-term performance of the rear-ventilated rainscreen facade and offer numerous advantages:

  • Passive House-certified: SYSTEA stainless steel wall brackets are optimized for use in energy-efficient building envelopes and feature Passive House certification to minimize thermal bridges.
  • High corrosion resistance: Stainless steel ensures a permanently secure and low-maintenance fastening even under demanding weather conditions.
  • Durability and cost-effectiveness: The high material durability ensures a long service life and supports sustainable building operation.
  • Precise installation and load transfer: The wall brackets enable precise alignment of the sub-structure and ensure safe support of the facade loads.

With their structural and building physics properties, SYSTEA stainless steel wall brackets form the foundation for a permanently functional and energy-efficient facade solution.

The result

The new Leinetalschule elementary school in Pattensen is a sustainable educational facility featuring a technically sophisticated and architecturally high-quality building envelope. The combination of SYSTEA profile systems ALWI-S and ALWI-V enables a cost-effective, durable, and visually balanced facade solution. The combination of visible and concealed fixing allowed for the implementation of diverse design requirements within a cohesive facade concept. The Passive House-certified stainless steel wall brackets complement the system as an energy-efficient and permanently corrosion-resistant solution. The result is a rear-ventilated rainscreen facade that perfectly combines functionality, sustainability, and design.
