Modernization in the Neue Mitte in Lübeck
The apartment building in Hasselbreite in the Moisling district of Lübeck was modernized as part of a comprehensive energy-efficient refurbishment. The refurbishment was carried out on behalf of the Grundstücks-Gesellschaft TRAVE mbH. In addition to energy optimization, the aim was also to significantly enhance the design of the facade. The facade was equipped with a building-integrated PV system (BIPV) as part of the refurbishment by the installer K&S Industrieservice GmbH. The planning was carried out by architect Insa Schröder-Ropeter from Lübeck, who specializes in the renovation of residential buildings. The building was fitted with a ventilated rain screen facade, which not only offers advantages in terms of building physics, but also sets new design accents.
SYSTEA ALWI-S & UBE DUO in combined use
The new building envelope was clad with approx. 1830 m² of EQUITONE [tectiva] facade panels. The material impresses with its natural cement look, durability and colour stability – ideal for large-scale, modern residential buildings. The panels were mounted on a SYSTEA ALWI-S sub-structure system using visible fixing with rivets. The compatibility of our systems was proven once again, as the sub structure for the PV system was realized with the versatile UBE-DUO, which is suitable for the concealed fixing of photovoltaic modules, among other facade panels. This ensures secure, durable fastening and efficient installation at the same time. Thanks to the visible fixing with panel-coloured stainless steel rivets on robust, low thermal bridge stainless steel wall brackets, the project could be implemented quickly and economically – without sacrificing quality or design.
Architecture & Design
The clear, vertical structure of the façade, accentuated by differently coloured balcony parapets, brings new dynamism to the appearance of the building. The light grey EQUITONE panels underline the modern look of this project.
Result
The refurbishment of Hasselbreite demonstrates once again how existing buildings can be brought into the future through intelligent planning and the use of high-quality facade systems, both functionally and in terms of design. The SYSTEA systems used make a significant contribution to maintaining the value and modern appearance of this residential neighbourhood in Lübeck.
The integration of the photovoltaic system into the facade is also a further step towards the use of renewable energies in building refurbishment.
