Commercial building “Kurfürstendamm 33”

Facade renovation of listed building

The office and commercial building “Kurfürstendamm 3” in Berlin is a 6-storey corner site building with approximately a 95° curve, and is ca. 100 m in length and ca. 25 m high. It was built in 1954 and is protected nowadays as a ‘Listed Building’.

The ground floor is occupied by businesses with large shop windows, above which a longitudinal parapet extends. The first five floors are clad using special white glass. In contrast to this, the breasts beneath the windows are clad with special black glass. The attic floor with its large windows is set back. Above this, a large, protruding roof cornice terminates the building.

The original two-colour glass facade was replaced during the 1980’s by a heavy aluminium cassette facade using the existing colours and is now being returned to its original elegant image and appearance with this glass element facade.
