Modern, straightforward and precise
Built by the water – and focussed on quality.
The new administrative building of the Danish pension company AP Pension on Copenhagen’s harbour combines architectural aesthetics with well-thought-out functionality. In the centre of the innovative Nordhavn urban development area in Copenhagen, an iconic new building with a clear architectural signature was built in 2023. The 9,000 m² administration building is part of a 57,000 m² office and infrastructure project. Modern architecture meets precise system technology from SYSTEA. The striking, rear ventilated rain screen facade was realised with the TC110-V profile system – a sub-structure system developed for the concealed mounting of vertical ceramic panels that meets the highest standards of aesthetics, safety and efficiency.
Architecture meets technology
The building is characterised by its clear structure. The facade panels in shades of green and blue from NBK Architectural Terracotta also emphasise the structure and were processed by our partner C2Elements.
Our TC110-V profile system was used, combined with aluminium wall brackets as a special construction with vertical brackets for fastening the facade panels. Our profile systems not only ensure maximum stability, but in this case also precise alignment of the ceramic elements – for a smooth and harmonious facade structure.
High-quality solution with a system: TC110-V from SYSTEA
The concealed fixing system TC110-V offers the ideal solution for sophisticated facades with vertical ceramic tiles. It enables concealed fixing of the panels using clamps and vertical aluminium profiles – without any visible screws or brackets on the surface. The aluminium wall brackets ensure maximum stability and durability.
Our TC110-V system enables a particularly clear and elegant facade design that appears lively thanks to the precise interplay of light and shadow.
Sustainable design with character
PLH Arkitekter pursues a consistently sustainable architectural philosophy – from the first sketch to the choice of materials. In this project, the decision was made in favour of baguette panels in shades of blue and green with a unique ‘running glaze’. These create a fascinating play of colours in daylight and underline the exclusive character of the building. The colouring remains stable for decades – the glaze is UV-resistant and permanently weatherproof.
The combination of durable, natural material (clay, water, fire) and state-of-the-art processing makes the ceramic facade a sustainable solution – ecologically, aesthetically and functionally.
Technical realisation by C2Elements
As a long-standing partner in the field of ceramic façade systems, C2Elements contributes its experience in design, colour development and processing. The surfaces and formats specially developed for this project were precisely tailored to the requirements of the architects and building owners.
Conclusion
This project exemplifies the performance of our sub-structure systems in the field of rear-ventilated rain screen facades – precisely manufactured, flexibly combinable – permanently resilient.
